The passageway areas and the upstairs lounge were also freshened up with decorating works to the ceilings and woodwork.

To the exterior, the stone coping was cleaned off with paint remover and wire wool. The dark green walls were scraped, sanded out, filled, sanded, touched up and decorated with 1 coat of undercoat and coat of gloss.

Established in 1978, under the original name ‘Madogs’, this family-owned venue marks the very beginning of Edinburgh’s cocktail culture.

Over the years, their bar has become something of a Scottish institution and has welcomed both royalty and renowned artists from the likes of Princess Anne to ‘The Temptations’.

Now passed from father to son, today, they proudly bear the name ‘Elio’s’ in loving memory of the man who brought warmth to every pour. To book a table or for information on their selection of world class cocktails, please visit their website: https://eliosedinburgh.com
