Nicolson’s undertook their largest principal contract for Greene King with the refurbishment of this traditional public house.
The building is on two stories with a first floor function lounge which had a soft refurbishment. The ground floor bar and separate lounge were turned into a one space area by the removal of the supporting wall and subsequent making good thereafter. A new bar and gantry was designed by Suzanne Caldwell Design and all existing surfaces were renewed to provide a modern feel. The kitchen was also commissioned and the electrical supply upgraded to allow the business for the first time to cater for food as well as wet trade business.
The exterior was also given a major overhaul which involved a two stage programme. Due to the complexity of the property’s location, a traffic management system was required to be put in place to allow works to proceed and the public and traffic safe passage.
The business was closed for a total of 4 weeks and was opened pre-Christmas 2016 in time for the festive season.
